Common questions

What does ADRC do?

The Alzheimer's & Dementia Resource Center (ADRC) supports caregivers of people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias. We serve care partners and the person they're caring for, through connections to resources, support groups and education. Our services for caregivers and care partners are provided at no cost.

We offer Care Navigation, caregiver support groups, education, referrals to trusted local services, the Harmony in Care Music Box Initiative and State of Florida Brain Bank enrollment. See everything we offer.

Who does ADRC serve?

We serve caregivers in Orange and Seminole counties and across Central Florida. We also help out-of-state caregivers whose loved ones live here, and our virtual groups and education reach beyond Florida.

Caring for a Veteran? See our Veterans resources for VA caregiver support and dementia care benefits.

Is ADRC the same as Florida's Aging and Disability Resource Center?

No. We're the Alzheimer's & Dementia Resource Center (ADRC), a Central Florida nonprofit focused on dementia caregivers. We just share the same initials.

Florida's Aging and Disability Resource Centers are a separate network of state-designated agencies for senior services. To reach the one for your county, including outside Central Florida, call the Florida Elder Helpline at 1-800-96-ELDER (1-800-963-5337), or see our Elder Services Helplines page.

I'm overwhelmed and don't know where to start. Who should I call?

Call us at (407) 436-7750. Many caregivers reach us when they feel they're at the end of their rope, or when their patience is running short, and that's exactly when we want to hear from you.

We'll start with a free Care Navigation session to learn what you can afford, whether family or friends can help, and what services are available near you. You can also meet other caregivers at a free support group.

Will someone take the time to understand my situation?

Yes. When you call (407) 436-7750, we'll listen to what's going on and help you figure out what fits your family, whether that's Care Navigation, a support group or a referral to local services. Every family's situation is different, and we treat it that way.

Do you offer classes for caregivers?

Yes. We offer workshops, classes and one-on-one education for caregivers, the public and the medical community. See our education services or call us to ask what's coming up.

Should I call ADRC or the Alzheimer's Association Helpline?

Call the Alzheimer's & Dementia Resource Center (ADRC) at (407) 436-7750, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, for local help in Orange and Seminole counties and Central Florida: Care Navigation, support groups, education and referrals to trusted local services.

If you need support at night or on the weekend, call the Alzheimer's Association 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900. In an emergency, call 911.

Does ADRC help with Medicare?

We can help you understand your options. Unfortunately, Medicare doesn't cover a lot of dementia care. Medicare's GUIDE program provides a limited amount of respite hours.

Book a free Care Navigation session and we'll talk through what's available for your family.

How is ADRC funded?

Our services are free to caregivers and care partners thanks to donors, sponsors and community partners. If you'd like to help, please donate.
